What you need to know about driving in Las Vegas

Getting from point A to point B in Las Vegas isn’t much of an issue. Your options include a bus, monorail, taxi, or just taking a walk. However, many argue that driving in the city—especially if you’re visiting for the first time—is a unique experience. If you do choose to go down that route, it’s best to get acquainted with the traffic laws which may differ from other states.

In this blog, we’ll tell you all there is to know about driving in Las Vegas.

General Rules and Safety

Even though it’s Sin City, there are strict laws against DUI. You could be stopped for a urine, blood, or breath test if suspected by an officer for drunk driving. The legal limit for adults (21+) is 0.08% and 0.02% for those underage. Never get behind the wheel if you’ve had something to drink and take a cab instead.

Drivers are not allowed to use the internet, text, or call someone while driving. Both the front and rear-seat passengers must be wearing safety belts and children that weigh less than 60 pounds or are under the age of 6 must be restricted with an approved child restraint system. Failing to do so can result in community service, fines, or even having your driver’s license suspended.

Also, remember to always stop for children that are boarding or departing a school bus flashing its red lights. When it comes to turning and overtaking, you can turn right on a red light only after coming to a complete halt and if no sign prohibits it otherwise.

Navigating Through the City

7 to 9 A.M and 4 to 6 P.M are rush hours when traffic is at its peak. Be extra careful when going to The Strip which is almost always congested. Parallel roads like Frank Sinatra Drive, Paradise Road, and Industrial Roads can take you to the main tourist attractions with relatively less traffic.

Before you head out, inspect the road conditions as road work is common in Las Vegas.  Keep on the lookout for drivers in other lanes as driving in the city isn’t always agreeable.

Now that you’re aware of the road conditions, the only thing left is to rent a car, but not just any car will do. Diplomat Exotic Rentals provides luxury rental cars in Las Vegas.
